Macquarie University sought to provide its Global MD students with world-class international clinical exposure. The challenge was to establish a trusted partnership that could offer accredited clinical rotations outside Australia, while ensuring academic excellence and cultural adaptability.
- Solution
- Formed a strategic collaboration between Apollo Hospitals Hyderabad and Macquarie University in 2016
- ntegrated a mandatory 5-month core clinical immersion for Year 3 students in General Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, and Family Medicine
- Designed opportunities for Year 4 students to pursue elective rotations in super-specialties such as Cardiology, Neurology, and Oncology
- Established Apollo Hospitals Hyderabad as the first hospital in India to host mandatory core clinical rotations for students from a developed country
- Created a sustainable program with 30 MQ students on campus at any given time
- Impact
- Delivered an accredited, AMC-approved international clinical training model for the Global MD program
- Enhanced student learning through exposure to diverse clinical environments and patient cases
- Received exceptional feedback from the first cohort (Jan 2020) on the depth and quality of their clinical learning at Apollo Hospitals
